Truman was known for many great things. I want to share with you on one of the things that made him be a great man, he went into the military. The military brought him discipline and courage. When World War I broke out, Truman helped organize the 2nd Regiment of Missouri Field Artillery. In France, he was promoted to Captain and given command of Battery D of the regiment. Truman participated in many campaigns. After the war, Truman joined the reserves and was commissioned a major. He was promoted to colonel on June 17, 1932. . Truman was proved to be a cool and resourceful leader; his consideration of the members of his battery won Truman their affection and admiration.
